Brazil market overview
Brazil is the third-largest app market by downloads, behind India and the US. AppTweak reports about 9.0 billion downloads across both stores between November 2024 and November 2025, about 8.1% of the global total, down 7.1% year over year.
The platform picture is shifting. Google Play accounted for 7.7 billion of those downloads and fell 11%. The App Store accounted for 1.4 billion and grew 18%. AppTweak notes that Brazil has traditionally skewed Android while iPhone adoption is rising, which means Apple's price points matter more than they used to.
What lower prices did for one app
The best-known Brazil example comes from RevenueCat's write-up on price localization. Flo ran pricing experiments in Brazil with significantly lower prices, and Brazil eventually became its third-largest market. The article adds that it stayed highly profitable despite the lower prices, partly because ad inventory was cheaper at the time. That last point is a reminder that results depend on the whole cost structure, so one app's outcome says little about yours.
The same article notes a smaller adjustment. A brain-training app that normally sells weekly, annual and lifetime plans removed its annual plan in Brazil, on the theory that cheaper options suit the market.
How to price for Brazil
Treat both stores separately. With iOS growing and Android still the larger base, check that your App Store prices and Google Play prices both make sense locally. The tier comparison explains why the same US anchor can land at different local prices on each store.
Think about plan shape as well as price. Test shorter or smaller plan options alongside any price cut.
Anchor on what people in Brazil will pay. The Mirava Index estimates what people in each market will pay from live subscription data. Our guide to setting up local pricing with purchasing power parity covers the older method, and why it matters explains the reasoning. Read the second guide before choosing a discount. For a sense of how steep local discounts can get, see the Turkey and Nigeria guides.
Roll out in steps. Change the Brazil price alone, give it enough time to read conversion and revenue per install, then move on. The general approach is in the price localization guide.
Key takeaway
Brazil is large, growing on iOS and a market where at least one major app did well with lower local prices. The question for your app is how far below your US price the right number sits, and the only reliable way to find out is to test it.
